My dear Mrs. Swarts

I had a letterEditorial Note: See 579.59.013. from your husband that I had not time to read, but Mr Frye told me some of its contents.

In reply will say -- All I ever said on that subject was slight, and on the grounds of what was told me in ChicagoEditorial Note: Chicago, Illinois, and your sad letterEditorial Note: See 579.59.026. in which I was led to think from what you wrote that your husband had left you. I never wish to injure any one, especially one that has been my friend as you have seemed to be. On the contrary I have a deep interest in your welfare, and hold myself now just as ready to do you good, as when I welcomed you to my class at its close in Chicago God has given me a solemn mission to mankind. I have endeavored to fulfill it lovingly for all.

I am no -- flatterer, and no hypocrite, what I say and do is with the motive to bless all. Every year a new good for you all, my Father has revealed to me, and I have faithfully uttered it. Then is it right for those whom I am thus blessing, year by year, to snatch my blessing then like the persecutors of our MasterEditorial Note: Jesus Christ -- go "out and take council how they might destry"Mark 3:6 And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him. her! Yes, dear, I know you see this is wrong and the very antipodes As Written: antipodese of mental or moral science

I have no disposition to interfere with the lives of others, and never do it. I am not trying to incite your husband's students against him by either bribery, or mental malpractice, both of which I am incapable of descending As Written: decending to commit. I have done him and you good, but never intentionally any evil. Then why his course to me?

I am glad to have you all build up the cause of Truth and shall never impose a single impediment in your way of doing this But your husband need to know that I have not, and he cannot build himself up by trying to pull others down. One of his students, after calling on the enemy and getting wild with malicious mesmerism, fairly insinuated threats at my life! My best wishes and adieu
