March 14th 1872Editorial Note: Eddy’s fourth class opened on this day. The students were Lydia Merrill, Elizabeth Nichols, Miranda R. Rice, and Peter Sim.

In consideration of three hundred dollarsEditorial Note: Eddy’s standard fee for her class instruction at that time. Its equivalent in 2014 is $5844.30. I do hereby agree to teach her Mrs Nichols the principle of moral and physical scienceEditorial Note: Early on, Eddy referred to Christian Science as "moral science." by which she can heal the sick or to refund to her the sum aforesaid
