George W. Adams (c.1834-1903) was born in Northfield, Vermont, and died in Chicago, Illinois. Adams married Mary M. Willoughby in Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1860. He worked as a carpenter and a merchant, and for many years he worked as a manager at Willoughby, Hill & Co., a clothing store in Chicago owned by his wife's brother, Charles L. Willoughby. Although his wife was a Christian Science practitioner, teacher, and student of Mary Baker Eddy's, there is no record of George W. Adams studying Christian Science or uniting with The First Church of Christ, Scientist.
