Mary E. Allen
Mary E. Allen (b. Stutsman) (1855-1930) was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa,
and died in Harlan, Iowa. She married Edward G. Allen in Council Bluffs in 1874. By
1880, Allen was living in Harlan. She studied Christian Science with Jennie B. Fenn, a
student of Mary Baker Eddy, in 1886. Although she expressed an interest in studying with
Eddy herself, there is no record of her doing so. Allen joined The First Church of
Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 31, 1894.
