Joseph P. Atkinson
Joseph P. Atkinson (1809-1888) was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and
died in Boston, Massachusetts. He was ordained as a Universalist clergyman in 1829,
preaching in churches in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, and working for the
Universalist Publishing House in Boston. He married Martha M. Atkinson (b. Perley) in
1835. He wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886 to express an interest in taking class with
her, although the records do not indicate that he ever did so.
