Helen M. Austin (1834-1908) was born in Pelham, New Hampshire, and died in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She first met Mary Baker Eddy in 1862 in Portland, Maine, when both were patients of Phineas Parkhurst Quimby. Austin became interested in Christian Science in 1884 and had Primary class instruction with Hanover P. Smith, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Haverhill, Massachusetts, and she joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in June 1898, remaining a member until her passing.
