Elizabeth S. Bangs (1850-1929) was born in Barnstable, Massachusetts, and died in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing the Primary class (1884) and Normal class (1886). She joined the Christian Scientist Association in January 1885, after which she maintained a healing and teaching practice in Boston and was listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal. Bangs joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in December 1892. She was dropped from membership in July 1893 for an unknown reason but possibly because of her close association with Josephine Curtis Woodbury. In July 1896, at Eddy's request, Bangs was readmitted on probation, becoming a full member of the Church a year later. Afterwards she continued her healing work and advertised as a Christian Science practitioner in the directory of The Christian Science Journal.
