Cyrus M. Barrows (1844-1912) was born in Hartford, Maine, and died in Reading, Massachusetts. He was a printer, author, and Civil War veteran. In 1885, in response to attacks by clergymen, Barrows published a defence of Mary Baker Eddy and Christian Science called Christian Science is not Pantheism. Even though Barrows was not a Christian Scientist, the pamphlet was advertised in The Christian Science Journal and distributed to Christian Scientists in New England and the Midwest.
