Margaretta E. Belin (b. Lamott) (1846-1927) was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and died in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She married Henry J. Belin, 1843-1917, in 1868, in Delaware City, Delaware, and they lived in Scranton. He was a well known financier and industrial leader who worked for E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. for 54 years, ultimately becoming its director and president. He also served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. Belin was active and prominent in society circles, and after her husband's death in 1917, she had the Waverly Community House and Park, in Waverly, Pennsylvania, built in his honor. The Belin family had spent their summers in Waverly since the 1880s and owned a home there. In 1887 Belin wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to consult with her about how to obtain Christian Science treatment for herself and two of her children.
