Eliza A. Best (1817-1895) was born in Pennsylvania and died in Freeport, Illinois. She was the mother of Laura V. Lathrop, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's who taught and practiced in New York City for 25 years. Best was married to Charles C. Best, a Methodist Episcopal pastor who ministered in churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois.
