Libbie Beyer (1848-1886) was born in Wingerode, Germany, and died in
Oconto, Wisconsin. Beyer, a school teacher living in Oconto, received Christian Science
treatment through prayer from Fannie M. Silsbee, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. After
her treatment, she was determined to study Christian Science, subsequently taking
Primary class instruction with Eddy in May 1884. After studying with Eddy, she
maintained a healing practice in Oconto and was a charter member of the Oconto Christian
Scientist Association. There is no record of her joining the Christian Scientist
Association or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
