S. A. (Sarah Ann) Bombeck (1831-1902) was born in Kentucky and died in Missouri. In the 1850s, she worked as a teacher in the Ralls County School District before earning enough money to attend the Dr. Russell Thacher Trall's Hydropathic and Hygienic Institute in New York City. Bombeck had hoped to study at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College in 1883, and later in 1886, but she never enrolled or studied at the College.
