Sarah B. Bowerman (b. Brewer) (1811-1896) was born in Utica, New York, and died in Dunlap, Iowa. In 1830 she married Josiah Bowerman, a farmer, in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. They lived and farmed in Hallowell, Ontario, until 1857 when they moved to Ripon, Wisconsin, and then to Shabbona, Illinois, sometime prior to 1860. In 1869 they moved again to Spring Valley, Iowa, and finally to Dunlap, Iowa in 1876. Bowerman's husband died later that year, and thereafter she resided with two of her daughters in Dunlap for the rest of her life. In 1887 her son Henry B. Bowerman, who was interested in Christian Science, wrote to Mary Baker Eddy seeking advice about Christian Science treatment on her behalf.
