John W. Boyer (1864-1930) was born in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, and died in Fairview, Pennsylvania. He was a blacksmith. By 1880 he was living in Brookville, Pennsylvania, where he was the proprietor of Brookville Saw Works, and by 1887 he had moved to Ridgeway, Pennsylvania, where he was the proprietor of Ridgeway Saw-Repairing Works. In 1887 he married Barbara Ellen Boyer (b. Himes) in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. By 1900 they were living in Red Bank, Pennsylvania; by 1910 in Karns City, Pennsylvania; and finally, by 1920, in Fairview, where Boyer became a farmer. In 1887 Boyer wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
