Adelaide L. Briggs (b. Schoonmaker) (1830-1888) was born in New York and
died in Elmira, New York. In the early 1850s she married John Post, a farmer, and they
resided in Seneca, New York. He died in 1874, and in 1883 she became the second wife of
William S. Briggs, a lawyer, county judge, and surrogate court officer. They resided in
Penn Yan, New York. Briggs wrote to Mary Baker Eddy several times in 1887 expressing
interest in taking Eddy's Primary class in Christian Science, but the record does not
reflect that she did so.
