Emma R. Briggs (c.1843-?) was born in Whiting, Vermont. It is not known where she died, but she spent most of her life in Wisconsin. Briggs was a teacher and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as her great-grandfather, John Ormsbee (1733-1819) of Rhode Island, was a seaman on the privateer "Marquis de Lafayette." There is no record of Emma R. Briggs studying with Mary Baker Eddy or joining the Church of Christ (Scientist).
