Sarah P. Burnham (c.1823-1896) was born and died in Boston,
Massachusetts. She devoted her life to charitable work in Boston and for over thirty
years was a missionary in the City of Boston's Public Institutions Department. She
worked with former female inmates of the Deer Island House of Industry, later named Deer
Island Prison, advising them and securing employment for them. She was also the
half-sister of Julia M. Burnham, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's.
