J. Allen Campbell (?-?) was born and died in an unknown location. He was
a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, taking Primary class in March 1885, alongside his wife,
Lysbeth L. Campbell. In June 1885, he joined the Christian Scientist Association, but
there is no record of him joining the Church of Christ (Scientist). He also took Normal
class with Eddy in October of the same year. He was listed in the directory of
The Christian Science Journal as
a practitioner from 1886 until 1887. He was elected as the first president of the
National Christian Scientist Association in January 1886 and the Association's meeting
was held at the Campbells' home in New York City on February 10, 1886. J. Allen
Campbell's involvement within the Christian Science Movement appears to have ended in
January 1889 following his amicable withdrawal from the Christian Scientist
Association.
