Walter S. Chapin (1862-1891) was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, and died in New York, New York. Sometime before 1880 he moved with his family to Waterford, Connecticut. In 1883 he married Virginia S. Chapin (b. Ransom) of Albany, New York, and they settled in Albany. Chapin was acquainted with M. Augusta De Forrest Brown, one of Mary Baker Eddy's students. In 1888 his wife wrote a letter to Eddy to order a copy of Unity of Good.
