George D. Choate (1833-1909) was the husband of Clara E. Choate (1850-1916) and a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her in May 1879 and August 1882. He was a member of the Church of Christ (Scientist) until he requested dismissal in January 1884. He worked as a mental healer in Providence, Rhode Island, in the early 1880s before returning to Boston and assisting his wife with the management of the Choate Metaphysical College.
