Charles H. Colby (1821-1906) was born in Newton, New Hampshire, and died in Hyde Park, Massachusetts. He owned a grocery store in Hyde Park and was active in the local Masonic lodge, having been initiated in 1851 and serving as the secretary from 1878 through 1879. Colby subscribed to early issues of The Christian Science Journal and his wife received treatment from a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. Despite this, there is no record of Colby studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church.
