William H. Cudworth (1860-1939) was born in Shoreham, Vermont, and died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Shortly after graduating from the Philadelphia Dental School, he started a dental practice in Milwaukee with Silas J. Sawyer, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. The partnership was short-lived and they set up separate practices. Around this time, Cudworth and his mother, Lucinda Cudworth, became interested in Christian Science and received Christian Science treatment through prayer from Clara E. Choate, a Boston-based student of Eddy's. William H. Cudworth's interest in Christian Science was brief and there is no record of him studying with Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist). He practiced as a dentist in Milwaukee for fifty-seven years until he retired.
