Jennie P. Davis (1858-1955) was born in Dracut, Massachusetts, and died in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She moved to Lawrence with her family sometime between 1865 and 1870, residing with her parents throughout their lives and thereafter residing with her sister Ella F. Taylor (b. Davis). Davis worked in a cotton mill and later as a tailoress. She met Mary Baker Eddy when Eddy traveled to Lawrence in 1882 to give a talk in the home of one of her students, and she subsequently took the Primary class from Eddy in October 1882. She later also studied Christian Science with Susie M. Lang, 1849-1922, who was a student of Eddy. Davis joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 1, 1898. Taylor was also a member of the church, joining on June 23, 1903. Davis was a member of the Christian Scientist Association as well as being one of the founders and a member of the Christian Science Church in Lawrence.
