Hannah M. Dewey (b. Root) (1841-1925) was born and died in New York. In 1870, she married James W. Dewey. He was a Civil War veteran, serving in the 20th Regiment of the New York Cavalry. After the war, he was a farmer. In 1886, Hannah M. Dewey wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures for herself.
