Lucy DuBois (1836-1918) was born in Tioga, New York, and died in DuBois,
Pennsylvania. In the mid-1850s she attended Elmira Female College, now known as Elmira
College, in Elmira, New York. By 1900 she was living in DuBois; the city is named after
her uncle John DuBois, a lumber magnate. DuBois wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1887 to
order copies of her pamphlets.
