Mary F. Eastaman (1849-1924) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and died in Somerville, Massachusetts. She first became involved in Christian Science when her husband, Joseph S. Eastaman, healed her after he studied with Mary Baker Eddy. Mary F. Eastaman then studied with Eddy, completing the Primary (1885) and Normal (1887) classes. She then devoted her life to Christian Science healing and was listed as a practitioner in the directory of The Christian Science Journal from 1886 until her passing. On September 23, 1892, she was appointed as a First Member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Eastaman would go on to teach in the Sunday School and serve on the Bible Lesson Committee for 24 years.
