Anna Eckerly

Anna Eckerly (1852-1920) was born in Baden, Germany, and died in Los Angeles, California. In 1854 she immigrated with her family to the United States and was living in Memphis, Tennessee, by 1870. By 1885 she, her brother William A. Eckerly, and her sister Rosa Eckerly, had moved together to Montrose, Colorado. William was engaged at various times in real estate, mining, and sawmilling. The three of them moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, by the late 1890s and finally to Los Angeles in 1909. In 1886 Anna wrote to Mary Baker Eddy that she had been healed by Mary A. Bagley, a student of Bradford Sherman, who in turn was a student of Eddy. Bagley later studied with Eddy herself. Both Anna and Rosa Eckerly joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 6, 1894, and Anna was listed as a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal from 1899 until her passing.
