Emma A. Estes (1853-1942) was born in New York and died in Tryon, North Carolina. In early 1885 she became interested in Christian Science after her mother, Julia C. Estes, received treatment from Jennie B. Fenn, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. Emma A. Estes took Primary and Normal class with Mary Baker Eddy in 1887 and joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in March 1894. After completing Primary class, she served briefly as an assistant secretary in Eddy's household. She practiced briefly in Brooklyn, New York, before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, where for over 50 years she was listed as a Christian Science practitioner and teacher in the directory of The Christian Science Journal.
