Emma L. French (1850-1933) was born in Clarendon, Vermont, and died in Athol, Massachusetts. Her family moved to Orange, Massachusetts, when she was a child. French wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1887 to order some pamphlets. She moved to Athol in 1901 after the death of her mother. French became a member of the Congregational Church in 1874 and remained one until her death.
