W. S. (William Seiden) George (1825-1881) was born in Derby, Vermont, and died in Lansing, Michigan. He had a distinguished career in journalism in New England and Michigan from 1840 until his passing. He apprenticed as a printer in Vermont but would work his way up to become editor and owner of several newspapers, including the North Adams Transcript and Lansing Republican. George was the older brother of Caroline M. Poor, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's.
