Edith J. Gerry (1864-1948) was born in Robbinston, Maine, and died in Maine. Gerry studied Christian Science with Julia S. Bartlett, a student of Mary Baker Eddy, in Calais, Maine in 1886. She heard Eddy speak a handful of times, including before the National Christian Scientist Association in Chicago, Illinois, in June 1888. Gerry joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 1, 1893, and was present at the dedication of the Original Mother Church in 1895 and of The Mother Church Extension in 1906. Several of Gerry's siblings were also involved with Christian Science, including Mabel Gerry Haviland (b. Gerry) and Mary E. Brooks (b. Gerry), who studied with Eddy's student Laura V. Lathrop and were members of the Church of Christ, Scientist, New York, New York. Along with their sister Kathleen "Katie" G. Oliver (b. Gerry), they were also members of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Gerry was listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner in South Robbinston, Maine, in 1896 and 1897.
