Catharine A. Gill (b. Banker) (1826-1896) was born in Tarrytown, New York, and died in Asbury Park, New Jersey. In 1858, she married William I. Gill, a Methodist minister who was pastor of a congregation in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and a student of Mary Baker Eddy. In 1886, William served on a trial basis as assistant pastor to Eddy for the Church of Christ (Scientist); however the Gills ultimately left the teachings of Christian Science and William resigned as assistant pastor in January 1887. William also served as editor of The Christian Science Journal for a brief period from September 1886 to November 1886. At the time of her death, Gill was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.
