Catharine A. Gill (b. Banker) (1826-1896) was born in Tarrytown, New York, and died in Asbury Park, New Jersey. In 1858, she married William I. Gill, a Methodist minister who was pastor of a congregation in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and a student of Mary Baker Eddy. In 1886, William served on a trial basis as assistant pastor to Eddy for the Church of Christ (Scientist), however the Gills ultimately left the teachings of Christian Science and William resigned as assistant pastor in January of 1887. William also served as editor of The Christian Science Journal for a brief period from September 1886 to November 1886. At the time of her death, Gill was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.
