Katherine "Kate" M. Goring (1864-1945) was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and died in Kirtland, Ohio. By the time she was 6 years old her family had moved to New York, and she worked as a dressmaker throughout her life. Goring wrote to Mary Baker Eddy multiple times in 1887 to request copies of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. In the late 1880s, she advertised and worked as a Christian Science practitioner alongside her mother, Lorinda Goring (b. Badgerow), in Buffalo, New York. Sometime between 1900 and 1910 they moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Between 1913 and 1920 they moved to Los Angeles, California, and Goring was still living there in 1940.
