Ellena A. Haines (1847-1943) was born in Ellington, Connecticut, and died
in West Haven, Connecticut. She married John Gardiner Haines in 1879 and they lived in
Omaha, Nebraska, for many years. She sent her sister, Martha E. McLean, Mary Baker
Eddy's address so she could write for advice on Christian Science treatment through
prayer for Haines' niece, Ellena R. McLean. There is no record of Haines studying with
Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston,
Massachusetts.
