Julius L. Hand (1832-1888) was born and died in New York. He was a Civil War veteran, who served for New York. In about 1860, he married Harriet A. Hand (b. Strobeck). After the war, Hand worked as a mechanic, a carpenter, and a watchman for the customs service. In 1886, Hand ordered a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures through Lorain H. Simmonds.
