Jessie L. Hanks (1856-1940) was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and died in Wallingford, Connecticut. She married Wilbur F. Hanks, a publisher, in 1875. Hanks wrote to Mary Baker Eddy a few times in 1886, ordering a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, as well as subscribing to The Christian Science Journal. For a short time in the 1880s, she was listed as a "metaphysician" in census records and reported doing healing work in a letter she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, but it is unclear, based on available records, whether she was practicing Christian Science in this work.
