Augusta W. Hathaway (1846-1914) was born in Warren, Massachusetts, and died in Worcester, Massachusetts. She began her career working as a teacher in Warren, before moving to Boston and becoming a phonographer and then a private secretary. She became interested in Christian Science in 1885 and wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, asking for information about studying at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College.
