Nathan Hobart (1829-1897) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and died in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Hobart was a prominent dry goods merchant and senior partner at Minot, Hooper & Co., splitting his time between Boston and New York. He was an active member of the Church of the New Jerusalem, serving on its Board of Publication.
