Bertha Miranda Hoyt (1870-1920) was born in Derby, Connecticut, and died
in Springfield, Massachusetts. She originally wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1885 when she
was a teenager looking for help with her ailments. Years later in November 1910, she
joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, and from 1918 until her
passing, she served as a Christian Science practitioner in Springfield and advertised in
the directory of
The Christian Science Journal.
