P00971Susan R. K. Hoyt (b. Kenny) (c.1846-1923) was born in Ireland and died in
Brookline, Massachusetts. She emigrated to the United States in about 1858 and upon
arrival began working as a domestic servant in a home in Boston, Massachusetts. She most
likely became interested in Christian Science in the early 1880s, going on to join the
Christian Scientist Association in October 1885. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's,
completing Normal class in May 1889. In July 1893, she joined The First Church of
Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a member until her passing. Hoyt
was a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, listed in the directory of
The Christian Science Journal from about 1906 until 1920.
