Fred J. Hutchinson (c.1856-1915) was born and died in Laconia, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College (1878) and Boston University Law School (1882). He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar Association in 1882 and practiced law in Boston until 1898 when he was appointed associate justice of the Northern Norfolk District Court, a position he held until his passing.
