Amos Ingalls (1828-1907) of Lynn, Massachusetts, studied with Mary Baker Eddy in 1871. After Wallace W. Wright publicly criticized Eddy in the pages of The Lynn Transcript, Ingalls, along with other students, published a response defending Eddy in the February 17, 1872 edition of the newspaper. By 1875, however, Ingalls' healing practice was becoming less successful, and he appears to have left the Christian Science movement about that time.
