Henry M. Joy (1836-1886) was born in Middlebury, Ohio, and died in
Greencastle, Indiana. He was a Methodist minister, preaching in Ionia, Lansing, Grand
Rapids, Niles, Coldwater, and Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 1865, he married Jennie M. O'Hea,
who wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in early 1886 to ask for information on studying at the
Massachusetts Metaphysical College. There is no record of either of the Joys studying
with Mary Baker Eddy.
