Louis Karcher (1854-1904) was born in Freeport, Illinois, and died in
            Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Philosophy from Northwestern University in
            1878 and went into the practice of law, first in Freeport and then in Chicago from 1887
            until his passing. He married Irene A. Karcher (b. Murray) in Naperville, Illinois, in
            1880. He wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in June 1886 to order a copy of 
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Based on the records
            available, we have found no further information concerning his involvement with
            Christian Science.
