Susan R. Kenny (c.1846-1923), later known as Susan R. K. Hoyt, was born in Ireland and died in Brookline, Massachusetts. She emigrated to the United States in about 1858 and upon arrival began working as a domestic servant in a home in Boston, Massachusetts. She most likely became interested in Christian Science in the early 1880s, going on to join the Christian Scientist Association in October 1885. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing Normal class in May 1889. In July 1893, she joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a member until her passing. Kenny was a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal from about 1906 until 1920.
