Abner S. Knisley (1842-1891) was born and died in Utica, Ohio. He worked
as a shoemaker. Under the alias Shepherd A. Knisley, he served as a private during the
American Civil War in Company A of the 135th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. Knisley wrote to
Mary Baker Eddy in 1887 to request a copy of
Science and Health with
Key to the Scriptures.
