Mary Knox (1859-1910) was born and died in Springfield, Massachusetts.
She was the daughter of Samuel Knox, a well known politician and abolitionist who had
represented Missouri's 1st District in the United States House of Representatives from
1864 to 1865. She was a philanthropist and an avid collector of Japanese art. In 1886
she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order several of her published pamphlets on Christian
Science.
