Jennie Lapham (1845-1929) was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and died in
Peabody, Massachusetts. She had intended to study with Mary Baker Eddy in the late
summer of 1882; however, even after a sizeable discount, Lapham was unable to afford the
tuition. Records suggest that Eddy did allow her to join the Christian Scientist
Association and that Lapham had an active healing practice, most likely in Somerville,
Massachusetts, where she lived at the time.
