Peter Lawson (1821-1911) was born in Woodstock, Connecticut, and died in Port Dover, Ontario, Canada. His family moved to the Province of Upper Canada in 1830, and he married Sarah Lawson (b. Ladd) in 1842. Lawson ran a tannery in Port Dover and was a member of the first Parliament of Canada after Confederation (1867-1872). He was a member of the Methodist Church (Canada). Lawson wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1887 to request a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, as well as a variety of her pamphlets.
