William W. Lazear (1855-1942) was born in Paterson, New Jersey, and died in Winnetka, Illinois. He moved to New York, New York, in 1867 and then to Chicago, Illinois, in 1871, where he began working as a dentist in 1881 after graduating from the Philadelphia Dental College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1883, he married Laura C. Lazear (b. Davies) in Chicago. They were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church while residing there and transferred to the First Methodist Church of Evanston, Illinois, when they moved there in 1926. In 1886, Lazear wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order literature about Christian Science.
